5 Simple Ways To Keep Exercising While On Vacation

Vacation time typically means a time to rest and relax, without the stress of normal day life. This doesn’t mean exercising cannot fit into the relaxation of a vacation. While it may be a good idea to tone down your exercising for the time you are gone, continuing your habit of a healthy lifestyle is a great idea. In fact, staying in routine makes going back to your normal life just a bit easier.

5 Simple Ways To Keep Exercising While On Vacation

1. Tours are Cardio Workouts

Just because a tour is fun doesn’t mean it isn’t a workout. Go on a walking or bicycling tour. Even though you’ll be taking in the sights of your vacation town, you are still getting in some cardio workout plus burning a lot of calories.

Depending on your vacation destination, you may decide to take on a hiking trail. A hilly terrain is a cardio workout, and it works your abs. A bicycle ride will work your leg muscles. Including your workout into your bucket vacation list is a great way to keep exercising.

2. Swim Some Laps

Swimming is an all-around great workout because water gives resistance. You can either use the pool or the ocean for an easy way to exercise while on vacation. You won’t even feel like you are doing a lot of work. Take your kids to the pool and swim with them!

If you are up for an adventure, snorkeling is a great experience and will burn hundreds of calories. Go experience the sea creatures up live and burn calories at the same time.

3. Take Advantage of the Gym

Most resorts, like Zanzibar Resorts, offer a fully equipped gym, with treadmills and weights. An easy way to keep exercising is to slip in a few workouts in the early morning. Take your headphones to the workout room and run a few miles or lift weights. Afterwards, you can take a shower to cool down then head downstairs for a healthy breakfast to start your day. Early morning workouts leave you feeling rejuvenated for the rest of the day.

4. Use the Beach

If you are at the beach, you should enjoy the shore. One of the best things to do is take an early walk, jog or run on the shore. Sand helps to challenge your muscles while they try to stabilize, and you are going to be totally at peace while there. The sounds of the wave crashing and seagulls chirping are the perfect background; no headphones are needed for this run!

5. Make Your Room a Gym

Maybe you don’t want to head down to the workout room in the hotel. That is totally fine! You can make your hotel room a gym. There are plenty of easy workouts you can do in your room.

  • Start off with some easy cardio such as jumping jacks. Make sure you stretch your body beforehand while watching the sunrise and those waves crash.
  • Abdominal crunches are easy enough to do in any hotel room.
  • Pushups are a staple of most workouts, for good reason. They increase your arm muscles while challenging your core muscles. You can elevate the intensity by placing your feet on a wall, above your head.
  • Using two chairs, you can do bench dips, while working your core and arm muscles.
  • Remember, a jump rope is a very small thing to pack and could easily be done on your balcony without any issues.

These are just a few ways to keep exercising while on vacation. It doesn’t have to be a chore or difficult to continue exercising. In fact, there are plenty of excursions you may want to try that could double for exercising. If you can figure out how to exercise and sight-see, you are going to have a great and healthy vacation.
