Learn more about some of the most popular health organizations and the e-Learning opportunities they provide.
World Health Organization
The World Health Organization recently launched The Health Academy with the intention to strengthen both health and education.
The academy strives to offer a unique learning experience. WHO claims their courses will transform students from passive recipients of information to active participants in knowledge acquisition.
WHO has taken a look at the most pressing health issues around the world. Then, they designed courses to educate the general population about those concerns. The e-Learning courses available through The Health Academy have been formulated based on the most relevant health information, scientific research, and best practices from the field of medicine.
The courses have been specifically designed to meet the needs of a particular country or group of countries. Most courses are available in both the country’s official and local languages.
Since health concerns vary, the topics of the courses are quite diverse. For example, here are just a few of the topics available for study:
- Blood donation, most common diseases transmitted by the blood, HIV/AIDS and more.
- The dangers of tobacco
- Decreasing the incidence of habitual use of substances
- Safe driving practices
- Avoiding tuberculosis
- Safe food handling
- Oral health
- Heart attack and stroke prevention
- Malaria awareness
