GATE 2018 Schedule Released: 23 Papers Will Be Conducted In 8 Sessions
It has been notified that GATE will be conducted from the dates February 3, 2018 to February 11, 2018, and on each date, there will be two sessions meant to conduct the examinations for various streams of Engineering. This sums up to the fact that GATE 2018 will be carried out in a total number of 8 sessions.
Everything You Should Know About the Schedule of GATE 2018:
As we all know, there are a total number of 23 papers entitled for Engineering which will be carried out within these 8 sessions. It is quite self-explanatory that one needs to have clarity on the timetable as a minute mistake can lead to an entire mishap. Every candidate should be clear about the timing in which he or she needs to report the examination center which will be mentioned on the hall ticket of GATE. It is assumed that to manage a large number of candidates appearing for the examination, and to conduct the examination in a streamlined and proper manner, this division of slots has been done. One can find the entire timetable at the official site and it has been provided below for ready reference:
1) February 3rd, 1st slot:
According to the timetable, on Saturday, 3rd February, the first or the forenoon session begins at 9 am and it ends at 12 noon. In these 3 hours of time, 5 subject papers are entitled to take place. These papers have the subject codes of ME, EY, PE, XE, XL, these subject codes are explained below in details:
ME corresponds to Mechanical Engineering, EY refers to Ecology and Evolution, PE stands for Petroleum Engineering, XE stands for Engineering Sciences and XL stands for Life Sciences. If we consider the Engineering Sciences section, there are a number of papers which are Engineering Mathematics (compulsory to attempt), the others are Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, Solid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Polymer Science & Engineering, Food Technology. On the other hand, if we consider Life Sciences section, the papers such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology and Food Technology are present. Among these, Chemistry paper is again made compulsory for the examinees.
2) February 3rd, 2nd slot:
The second or the afternoon slot is scheduled from 2 pm to 5 pm on the same date and the following subject papers with subject codes of ME, AE, MA, PI are supposed to take place. As we know, ME stands for Mechanical Engineering, AE stands for Aerospace Engineering, MA corresponds to Mathematics and PI stands for Production and Industrial Engineering.
3) February 4th, 1st slot:
The first slot is scheduled to take place from 9 am to 12 pm and the subject papers of subject codes such as CS and MN are supposed to take place. CS stands for Computer Science & Information Technology while MN stands for Mining Engineering.
4) February 4th, 2nd slot:
It is evident that the afternoon slot is supposed to take place from 2 pm to 5 pm. The subjects such as Agricultural Engineering (AG), Architecture and Planning(AR), Biotechnology(BT), Chemical Engineering(CH), Chemistry(CY), Geography and Geophysics(GG), Instrumentation Engineering(IN), Metallurgical Engineering(MT), Physics(PH), Textile Engineering and Fibre Science(TF) are supposed to take place on this date.
5) February 10th, 1st slot:
During the forenoon session of 9 am to 12 pm, Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC) subject paper is scheduled to take place.
6) February 10th, 2nd slot:
During the second slot of 2 pm to 5 pm, Electrical Engineering (EE) will take place.
7) February 11th, 1st slot:
As we have observed earlier that the subject code of ME is provided with two slots on the same date, the same case occurs with the subject code of CE which corresponds to Civil Engineering. The first slot from 9 am to 12 pm will be available for the candidates of CE paper.
8) February 11th, 2nd slot:
Followed by the trend, CE paper will be conducted in the second slot of the same day during the time of 2 pm to 5 pm.
This is a fact that the score of GATE 2018 can be used for more than two years to seek admission. The authorities have reported that the admit card for the examination will be available on the first week of January and it is obvious that the candidate needs to abide by the basic rules prevalent in the examination hall. Every Engineering student understands the importance of GATE 2018 and thus, they need to chalk down the dates on which they need to appear the examination hall without fail. The timetable of the examination has been set in a feasible manner to ensure an easy flow of the examination on the scheduled dates.
