The Green Synthesis Of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles
Research in the field of nanoparticles is increasing because of its unique and beneficial properties. These unique features include toughness, ductility, electrical conductivity, increased alloy strength and enhanced hardness. There are several different types of nanoparticles available, and copper oxide nanoparticles is one of them. However, this chemical is considered harmful and dangerous for nature, and that is why it needs expert supervision to use and synthesize it.
There are several ways to synthesize this material, and today we are going to talk about the green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles.
1. Material preparation:
For the different type of synthesis you need different material. Even green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles can be achieved with different plant based materials. Today we are going to explain this process with Vera plant. You need to make sure it is washed, finely chopped after drying. Now let it boil for 5 min in in 100mL of water at 80 degree centigrade. Make sure you choose a 250mL Erlenmeyer flask for boiling and let it cool to room temperature. Pass the remaining solution via a filter paper and remove all the solid particles and filter it again with the help of whatman filter paper. Make sure this paper size is 0.2 nono-microns. Now store it at 4degree Celsius so you can use it for synthesis.
2. Green Synthesis process:
For this you need fifty millimeters of aqueous copper nitrate solution with 99.99 % purity. You need to add 5ml of the A.vera extract from previous process in a Erlenmeyer flask. It needs constant stirring at 100 to 120 degree Celsius. Its color will change from deep blue to transparent or colorless and then red in 24 hours of time. After that use the centrifuge at 10000 rpm for 10 minute at room temperature to get the resultant solution. Now collect the final liquid and let it dry in watch glass.
3. Collect it under supervision:
You need to understand that copper oxide nanoparticles are not safe to handle without any experts guidance. There are several complications and risks associated with this substance and if you handle it carelessly you might end up having serious health issues. This may seem like a bit over the top to you but you need to understand the severity of the reactions of this chemical, so remember this fact all the time. When in contact with this chemical, make sure you are taking necessary action and precautions to avoid any hazardous situation. Also, it is advised that you take expert’s opinion and guidance before taking any action.
Conclusion
You need to understand that the process copper oxide nanoparticles synthesis is not an easy one, nor it is something that you can do in your home lab. You need special equipments with a controlled environment followed by a proper safety process. Hence, you need to keep all these things in your mind before synthesizing the process. And if you are doing it in your college or school lab, makes sure you take approval from your chemistry teacher to avoid any complications.
