Best Things To See And Do In Singapore For Maximum Enjoyment

Singapore is a multi-cultural city whose attractions and diversity enjoy worldly fame. That makes it a prime destination for an army of tourists pouring in the city, year by year.

For most of them, the starting point of their adventure is the Singapore international airport. However, with so many things to see and do, you might get confused about where to go first. Any Singapore airport taxi driver will ask you first what you want to visit.

Your place of stay is the most obvious answer. But, where next and what should take priority over other things. To make that choice easier, we have made this list of some of the most exciting things to do and see when visiting Singapore.

Visit the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade

This is a 3.5 kilometer-long walking area that will take you to some of Singapore’s finest attractions like the Bayfront, Collyer Quay, and the Marina Centre. The promenade features several breeze shelters and multiple mist sprays to protect the tourists and the locals from Singapore’s heat.

Visit Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is a green space that covers over 100 hectares in the central part of Singapore. The park is split into three major areas: Bay Central Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay South Garden. This innovative green space was opened in 2012, and since then it was visited by over 20 million visitors.

Hitch a Ride on a Bumboat

These are small boats that act as water taxis and are used by locals for fast transport, as well as river tours. They can be easily recognized as most of them have eyes and faces painted at their front. The belief here is that they can see the danger ahead. Most of them follow the same route that covers Robertson Quay, Clemenceau, Clarke Quay, Esplanade, and Boat Quay.

Shopping at Orchard Road (Singapore’s Fashion Street)

That’s a 2.2 km long entertainment and shopping avenue located in the center of Singapore. The entire area is covered with luxury shopping malls, hotels, and fancy restaurants. Plaza Singapura, Orchard Central, ION Orchard, and Nghe Ann City are some of the most popular malls on Orchard Road.

Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo

Singapore’s Zoo is an exceptionally beautiful zoo and one of the best in Asia. A night tour is a wonderful, yet bit eerie experience. There are over 120 nocturnal species in the Zoo, and you get to see almost all of them. The 20 minutes long “Creatures of the Night Show” is held only at night and is a big hit for adults and children alike.

Ride the Singapore Flyer

The 165 meters tall Ferris wheel overlooks the Marina Bay and a good chunk of Singapore’s skyline. The Singapore Flyer is smaller only from the High Roller in Vegas, and no other observation wheel in the world. But the scenery from the Singapore Flyer is second to no other in the world as it is incredible – a true delight for the eyes.
