Many talent show viewers are just as interested in a celebrity judge’s choice of the gown as they are in a contestant’s performance, and although the judges rarely fail to impress, there are times when they find themselves turning heads for all the wrong reasons.

Ofcom complaints
TV judge Amanda Holden graced our screens during Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals wearing a revealing £11k Julien MacDonald dress. Ofcom confirmed Amanda’s ensemble received more complaints than Russell Brand’s crude language and sexual references on Comic Relief, that is quite an achievement, but why did the dress attract so many complaints from viewers?
According to some viewers, Amanda’s plunging neckline was not appropriate for a family show where younger viewers may tune in. Ofcom, who received complaints for both Amanda Holden and Alisha Dixon’s outfit choices following last year’s show too, will not be investigating the complaints further. Ofcom has detailed the most complained about programmes from June 2016-2017 here: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/106553/Most-complained-about-programmes-last-12-months-461139.pdf.

With the show’s average viewing ratings of 8.7 million, 633 complaints may not seem so many, but the BGT semi-final was the No.1 most complained about the programme for the year and all down to Amanda’s seemingly inappropriate display of cleavage.
New stylist, Karl Willett
Amanda, 48, has now replaced her stylist, Angie Smith, who has worked with Good Morning TV presenters, Holly Willoughby, 38, and Rochelle Humes, 30. The talent show judge’s former stylist will be replaced by Karl Willett, who is no stranger to celebrity dresses, having styled The Voice’s Jennifer Hudson, 37, X Factor’s Ella Henderson, 23, and Singers Paloma Faith, 37 and Jessie J, 31.
It’s not only Amanda’s wardrobe that will receive an overhaul, the sassy dresser will no-doubt upload her new looks to her Instagram page too. Although some viewers have criticized Amanda’s fashion faux-pas, many fans praise the mum-of-two for her sense of style.
Amanda’s new stylist, Karl Willett, has sourced celebrity dresses https://www.axparis.com/collections/celebrity-dresses for the film, fashion and music industries, making attendees red-carpet-ready for events such as The Met Gala, The Grammy’s and The Olivier Awards.
Karl is renowned for his classic style and admits dressing strong females is his thing. Interestingly, Karl is a self-taught stylist who claims styling has always come naturally. Known for his strong ability to re-brand celebrities, Amanda may not be so infamous in the style stakes from now on.
