For some people, birthdays signify that you have aged (again), so they serve as a bitter reminder of the time passing for some people. For others, birthdays are happy occasions, and a great excuse for a party, or getting in touch with old friends. However, there is always the issue of organization, which may undermine the benefits of birthday celebrations, even by just a little. And there is always a question of what exactly to do – should you take your friends to the cinema or should you organize a BBQ? So to make your life a bit easier, here are a few ideas for organizing your next birthday party.
1. A party
The first and the most obvious is, of course, a good old-fashioned party. You can make it a theme party if you like – for example the Great Gatsby or a Tiffany-style themed party. It can be a blue-themed party for which everyone will have to wear blue and you’ll only serve blue food and drinks! Whatever your choice is, there are some elements that distinguish a birthday party from any other party – balloons, candles, cake, and photos. For the last one, you can go one step further and get a photo booth! These days they are growing in popularity, especially in Australia, so many Aussies choose to hire a photo booth in Wollongong, have fun and make lifelong memories. It’s much more entertaining than taking selfies all the time.
2. Night in
If you’d prefer to stay home for a quiet night for your birthday, you can still make it just as awesome. Invite your friends to an adult sleepover, and think of some fun stuff to do. You can play board games if it’s your cup of tea, or you can make a fabulous birthday cake and enjoy it with your friends. Alternatively, you can organize a movie night, or even a Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, or Sandra Bullock marathon, if your friends have similar tastes in film and TV. Alternatively, a girls’ night in the most literal sense is always a good idea. Spend your birthday doing facials, doing your nails and hair, and generally pampering yourselves. There is the extra benefit of feeling super relaxed afterwards!
3. Night out
If you and your friends are known for being party animals, you can always choose to have a birthday night out. This way you won’t have to think about the organisation at all. Take your friends out for cocktails, or wine tasting. It’s classy and it allows plenty of time for talking and bonding. If a few drinks isn’t enough, you can always just go clubbing, which pretty much guarantees you’ll have an amazing time.
4. The great outdoors
If your birthday is in the summer and you don’t feel like cleaning after your guests after the party, you can choose an outdoor venue. Have a picnic somewhere nice, bring music and a lot of food and booze, and you’re good to go! Another idea could be organizing a BBQ in your garden if you have one. It has the added plus for the convenient proximity to your home, including the bathroom. Or, if you have the means, you can throw a pool party, which are always a great hit.
5. Alternative
For an alternative approach, take your friends to an escape room game, so you can spook and entertain them at the same time. Similarly, you can organize a murder mystery dinner party. Both of these are extremely fun because they require the activation of everybody’s analytical skills, and they’re a great idea for an unforgettable birthday party.
6. Extreme
For those more adventurous of you, there are plenty of extreme sports to choose from. Go bungee jumping, skydiving, or rafting with your friends. Sure, it may be a bit more on the expensive side, but hey, you never know, you might get a discount! And wouldn’t that be a birthday to remember?
Hopefully, now you have a better idea of how to spend your next birthday. Just remember: it’s your day, and you should do whatever you think is fun, with the people you love. That way, whatever you do, you’ll definitely have a great time!
