These Are The ‘Must Haves’ When Building A New Home

Owning a home is a dream of every American citizen. It’s not easy, but with a lot of hard work and discipline, anyone can do it. When you have saved enough money or took a mortgage to turn your dream of owning a home into a reality, there are two ways you can go about it. You can choose to buy a ready-made house or build your own home.   If you opt for the latter, you will need to work with a custom home builder to help you construct your dream house. Sounds easy enough, but it really isn’t. You will be starting from scratch; the possibilities are endless and you will need all the help you can get just to get it right. Here is a list of must-have items when building a new home.

Outdoor Power Outlets and Connections

When building a custom home, it helps to think ahead. For instance, if you have a lot of outdoor activities, have outdoor power outlets and connections installed. These easy access outdoor outlets come in handy when you have outdoor decorations such as lighting fixtures, outdoor appliances, and power tools that require being plugged in.

Sponge Storage Drawers

Sponge storage drawers can make a huge difference in the appearance of your kitchen, these drawers will free your sinks of soggy sponge clutter. These drawers can be installed on the drawer cover below the sink, just make sure its constructed in such a way that it flips out for quick and easy access.

Under Cabinet Outlets

Poorly installed power outlets can ruin the appearance of your kitchen. But a kitchen can’t operate efficiently without power outlets, so how do you go about it? Simple, have the outlets concealed. Install electrical outlets under the cabinets where they remain hidden but you can still connect your kitchen appliances easily.

Mud Room

A mudroom is a must have in a custom-built house, especially if there are children or pets in the house. Build a mudroom bench with a small handheld sprayer shower, shoe storage, and towel hangers by the backdoor. That way, you have everything you need to hose off muddy shoes and protect your home from dirt that may be tracked in.

Laundry Chutes

Laundry day can be such a nightmare especially when you have to round off dirty clothes from every room or corner of the house. Have laundry chutes installed in key places such as bathrooms and the mudroom. That way, you won’t have dirty laundry lugging all over the place.

Smart Thermostat

Install a smart thermostat in your home to control energy consumption when there’s nobody home. You can even program the thermostat to set optimal temperatures according to the weather. It’s a luxury that will help you cut energy costs.   There are many other ‘must haves’ when building a home, it all depends on preferences. Focus on making life easier in your new home. For instance, if you don’t like taking out the trash, you can have the trash take itself out by installing trash and recycling chutes in your custom-built home.
